  • Christmas Charity - Animal Rescue Volunteers Lichfield

    Mon 28 Nov 2022

This Year we are collecting during Advent for the Animal Rescue Volunteers Group.

The children had a little talk in assembly from two of their members about the work they do. They also meet Max a rescue dog who came to say hello and hope that you will help other dogs and animals like him who were abandoned.  The small local animal charities are really struggling this year with the cost of living - trying to keep the animals feed and housed and warm. Sadly, so many animals are being abandoned and these charities need our support to help them - help the animals who through no fault of their own have been left alone, with no home and no one to look after them.

    Animal Rescue Volunteers

We are a group of friends who formed our Community Group in 2019 to support smaller or less well known animal rescues and sanctuaries by fundraising & collecting donations for them.

Our group live in & around Lichfield, Tamworth, Rugeley and Burton. We are all volunteers and we have chipped in financially to buy our materials and insurance so that all the money we raise and all the items that are donated to us go directly to help the homeless animals and wildlife rather than on overheads.

    • We collect donations including: pet food, treats, cat litter, bedding, pet toys, newspapers, towels and blankets. We then distribute these between the local rescues that we support
    • We fundraise and all the money raised is then donated to the local rescue charities
    • We go out to scan pets that have been found to see if they have a microchip and if so they can hopefully be reunited with their owners
    • We help to find new homes for pets that are being given up for various reasons, as we do not have a centre, we cannot take animals in ourselves but we have set up a "direct rehoming" system where we search for new homes, carry out a homing visit and then if suitable put the old and new homes in touch with each other

    In the future

We would also like to run a project where we can assist with the cost of neutering and spaying local animals for people

that can not afford to get this done. Again, having the funds to do this is an issue currently.

We have our own page on Facebook - Animal Rescue Volunteers and also on Instagram - rescue0421 as well as our own website - www.animalrescuevolunteers.com

  • We are part of Primitas Learning Partnership

    Tue 01 Nov 2022

Today is our conversion day and we are now part of the Primitas Family of schools. These include EDA (Erasmus Darwin Academy) Highfields Primary Academy and Ridgeway Primary Academy.

It has been a long process but the DFE have past the order and we are now part of the Primitas Learning Partnership.

    What in the name?

We took our time deciding upon a name because we wanted it to really mean something. We wanted a name which really encapsulated the kind of Trust that we aspire to be.

And the starting point of the naming process was making the decision to be known as a “Learning Partnership” instead of a “Multi-Academy Trust.” We believe that Learning Partnership better reflects our vision and more clearly conveys our desire to be a truly collaborative educational venture where every academy matters and has a voice.

Even though we are a Multi Academy Trust in law, we are a Learning Partnership at heart and that is why our name does not mention any particular school; We do not believe in the concept of a ‘lead school’ which has greater status, influence or privilege than any other. We believe that all schools are fundamentally and equally important to the partnership and its ongoing success and development.

During the naming process, two Latin words resonated with us incredibly powerfully, as they encapsulate both what we want to provide and how we want to function:
    Primiceriatus: Leadership, guidance, direction
    Bonitas: Goodness, kindness, integrity, excellence

And so, as we explored these two words and their meanings in greater depth and detail, the name Primitas was formed, reflecting our core purpose and becoming an intrinsic part of our vision:

    • Primi is the plural form of the Latin word Primus, which means No.1, the leader, of prime importance. Primitas, therefore, means a state of being whereby everyone is of prime importance and all can provide leadership, with integrity and kindness, to help and support others.

Finally, it is important to realise that Primitas Learning Partnership came into being during a global pandemic when the whole world was forced to confront the reality that life is a team pursuit and that we need each other, more than ever, in order to survive, thrive and succeed. These vital truths have therefore become part of our DNA.
