What is Computing?
In this digital age we find ourselves, the use of computers are a key skill for everyday life. Computers, tablets, programmable robots, digital and video cameras are but a few of the tools that can be used to acquire, organise, store, manipulate, interpret, communicate and present information. At Holly Grove Primary School, we recognise that pupils need to develop their skills within the digital realm to scaffold them well for the future. A structured and progressive approach to the learning of the skills within computing are needed to enable children to flourish across the curriculum. Skills and knowledge in computing are crucial and have a purpose and relevance in all athe subjects we teach.
At Holly Grove, we want, model and prepare our children on how to be safe online - this underpins everything we do in computing. Beyond that, we feel it is essential that our children explore a range of software, hardware and digital mediums to give them the skills and understanding for the technological age in which we live.
Objectives

What our children say about Computing
Intent
At Holly Grove school we want pupils to be MASTERS of technology and not slaves to it. Technology is everywhere and will play a pivotal part in students' lives,. Therefore, we want to model and educate our pupils on how to use technology positively, responsibly and safely. We want our pupils to be creators not consumers and our broad curriculum encompassing computer science, information technology and digital literacy reflects this.
Implementation
The documents below identifies the key elements which we believe are important to incorporate into our Computing lessons for them to build on previously taught knowledge and to deepen and secure key concepts.
