  • Covid Testing in Burntwood

    Fri 15 Jan 2021

People in Burntwood without symptoms are being urged to take a coronavirus test.

Community testing is taking place a Burntwood Leisure Centre next week.

Staffordshire County Council is hoping that a programme of mass testing will help bring infection rates down by identifying “silent spreaders”.

Testing will be available between 10am and 4pm from 18th to 21st January. Appointments need to be booked in advance online.

People with symptoms can continue to book via the national testing portal.

  • FREE DEVICES and DATA

    Tue 12 Jan 2021 Mr O'Connor

    Hi parents,

We are hoping to have the opportunity to offer additional devices for home learning such as laptops and iPads soon. The devices are being collected by Burntwood Be a Friend (BBAF), as they are accepting donations from people who no longer need them.

There will be certain criteria that needs to be in place to qualify for a second-hand device, however, if this is something you think you would like to access, please register your interest by emailing the school office. We will then pass this information onto BBAF, so we can hopefully get your children a device to access home learning. Currently, we do not know exactly what is available, but we will pass requests onto BBAF and let parents know as soon as we have the information. If you already have devices at home and have no issues with home learning that is fine. This scheme is for families who are experiencing difficulties accessing remote learning.

Please register your interest in a second-hand device here: office@hollygrove.staffs.sch.uk

As a reminder, the Government have agreed a scheme with lots of different data providers whereby families struggling for data to support home learning can apply for FREE data. The school needs to apply for any free data on your behalf and will need some basic information to apply, but you could also have access to FREE data to save you money and support your children.

You can find out more here: https://get-help-with-tech.education.gov.uk/about-increasing-mobile-data

Again, please email the school office should this be something you would like us to apply for on your behalf. A letter has been emailed to all parents for those wishing to request FREE data, so please read it and send us the information requested if this is something you would like to access. The letter also explains how the FREE data works in a little more details too.

If you do email the office for either of these schemes, please put FREE DEVICE/DATA as the email title, so we can print them and keep a record.

    Thank you.

Incase you are having problems sharing devices at home. This may be of use.
  • Tuesday 5th January 2021

    Mon 04 Jan 2021

Due to the late notice of Boris’s shutdown we are going to be closed to ALL pupils tomorrow. We need time to sort out the organisation of teaching critical workers children and vulnerable children as well as sorting home learning for all the other children.

We will be sending parents a form to complete if they feel they fall under the critical to Covid response and need a place for their child.

    Thank you for your understanding

    Mrs O'Hare
