English and Mathematics lesson take place each morning with science and the foundation subjects (history, geography, computing, religious education, physical education, art, modern foreign languages and design and technology) taking place in the afternoon. Opportunities to promote Literacy and Numeracy throughout the curriculum are exploited, as well as cross curricular links. Phonics is taught separately in years 1 and 2 in the afternoon. Click on the curriculum jigsaws below to see an overview for each double year group. Click on the long term plans to see how the curriculum is taught each term. For further information, look out for the topic plans on the class pages.
As you are aware, your child receives new targets each term for Numeracy and Literacy. These are communicated with home via your child's profile book.
Nationally, assessment using levels has now stopped. Learning without levels has generated age related expectation that children within a particulary year group are intended to reach. We will now assess a child as Developing(D), Expected (E) or Above (A) in areas of the curriculum for their ability and age.
