• Friday 29 November 2024 Forest Schools Year 1 Year 1 had the most wonderful morning in Forest schools today! We used lots of our Torch Values - Cooperation, respect, tolerance and of course happiness as we worked together. We even got to eat the "fireworks" we made in English after we used our instructions to create them!
• Friday 29 November 2024 Christmas Fair 2024 Wow! what a great Christmas Fair! A big shout out to Mrs Ellis for organising it all! Thank you to all the families who came along and supported the school. Thank you to all the staff who managed the stalls.
• Thursday 28 November 2024 EYFS Balance Bikes Reception and the Nursery classes have been having lessons on how to ride a balance bike. Our Sports coach is coming in every week and working with the children in the hall or on the playground. They are all amazing and have really taken to the bikes like "ducks to water!" Watch out for them in the Tour de France!!!
• Thursday 28 November 2024 Reception Diwali Reception classes have had a great time learning all about Diwali the festival of light. They even made their own Diya lamps. Diya Lamps are oil lamps lit during the festival of Diwali to symbolize prosperity in the new year. They are small pots made from clay and could be described as 'thumb pots' as they are made by pressing the thumb into a ball of clay and shaping it. The children really enjoyed learning all about the festival of light

• Wednesday 27 November 2024 Nursery Winter Craft Morning 2024 We had a great nursery winter craft morning this week. Thank you to all the family members who attended the children loved seeing you and showing you their nursery classroom. They really enjoyed themselves! We hope you all had as much fun as us!

• Monday 25 November 2024 Reception visit from school Nurse We had a visit from the school nurses to our Reception classes. They talked to us about how to look after our teeth. We practised using a tooth brush and even cleaned some huge teeth! We also looked at different foods and talked about what foods were good for our teeth and which ones had sugar in, which can be bad for our teeth. We had lots of fun learning and asked lots of questions.
• Wednesday 20 November 2024 Year 6 Reading Gladiators Our Year 6 Reading Gladiators have started a new book this half term! We are very excited about it as it's written totally in poetry!!! Its all about a boy in America who experiences some trauma and how he learns to deal with it and how he "Rebounds"

• Tuesday 19 November 2024 Snow!!! We had very excited children today! They woke to a blanket of snow! Luckily we were able still get to school and had no real issues. The teachers took full advantage of the weather at break time!

• Wednesday 23 October 2024 Halloween Disco Our first discos of the year! What amazing costumes! Lots of fun had by staff and the children!
• Monday 21 October 2024 Year 4 Chasewater Residential Our very first over night residential with Year 4 was at Chasewater. We had an amazing time! The children were active from the moment they arrived doing activities like group games, practicing our Torch value of cooperation and tolerance!! Then on the climbing wall were we saw a lot of happiness! Bouldering - climbing on the smaller wall which was great fun! Archery were we saw a lot of respect for one another as well as the equipment! Fire lighting and den building were once again our cooperation skills came into play. On the evening we had campfire songs around a big real fire! The children were really well behaved and the staff at the centre were really impressed with them. We will definitely returning!

• Wednesday 14 August 2024 Rotary Award Summer 2024 Well done to our Summer Rotary Award winner A! She really deserves this award! We are all very proud of her! Thank you to the Rotary for coming in and presenting this award.
• Friday 19 July 2024 Summerfest - last day of school July 2024! On the last day of term we had our own Holly Grove festival on the field! We had games, music, dancing, faceprinting and ice creams!!!
• Friday 19 July 2024 What a Star! A big well done to S who had her lovely long hair cut off and donated it to a children's charity for sick children who have lost their hair. What a very kind gesture. We all thought she looked lovely with her new hair cut!
• Thursday 18 July 2024 Astle Award 2024 Our Astle Award this year was to T. This award was given to the school by Mrs Astle who had been a TA at Holly Grove for many years. We always remember her fondly when we give out this award.
• Thursday 18 July 2024 Thank you!!!! A Huge Thank you to T and her family for donating a new wheelbarrow to our school! After the Year 6 play on Tuesday evening her Dad noticed that our one was in need of repair! So he has donated a new one and new wheels for our old one! Thank you so much xxx
