Year 2 Science topic Living things and habitats🐞🍃
Year 2 had a fantastic start to their new Science topic, Living Things and Their Habitats, this week. Their very first lesson took them outdoors as real scientists, working together to explore the world around them.
Armed with clipboards and group worksheets, the children set out to investigate and record examples of things that were:
- Alive
- Once alive
- Never alive
The school grounds became a mini outdoor laboratory as the children searched high and low — spotting wriggling creatures, leafy plants, fallen leaves, twigs, stones, playground equipment and much more! Their teamwork was brilliant as they discussed each item and decided which category it belonged to. There were lots of thoughtful questions and super scientific thinking on display.
This hands‑on start to the topic has really captured Year 2’s curiosity, and we can’t wait to see how their understanding of habitats and living things grows over the term.
Well done, Year 2 — excellent science skills today! 🌟🔍🌱
