🎵 Year 1 Make a Musical Start with Mr Dean!
Year 1 had their very first music lesson with our music teacher, Mr Dean, this week — and what a brilliant start they made!
The children were full of curiosity as they explored a brand‑new instrument: the chime bars. Mr Dean showed them how to carefully open the chime bar boxes, handle the instruments respectfully, and how to hold the beaters correctly so they could produce a clear, musical sound.
Before long, Year 1 were confidently playing some of their very first notes! But as Mr Dean explained, the most important part of making music isn’t just playing — it’s knowing when to play and when to stop. The children showed fantastic focus and listening skills as they followed his signals and learned to keep the class music sounding steady and controlled.
There was some super listening on display today, and Year 1 should feel very proud of their musical beginnings. We can’t wait to hear how their skills grow over the term!
