Reception Explore a Magical Ice Castle!
This week in Reception, the children stepped into a winter wonderland as they explored an exciting ice castle! There was awe and curiosity everywhere as the children investigated frozen branches, icy tree needles and sparkling blocks of ice.
Throughout continuous provision, the children worked incredibly hard using their fine motor skills and hand–eye coordination to chip, break and explore the icy textures. They experimented together to see which parts of the ice castle they could break off, discussing their ideas and sharing their thoughts along the way. This led to plenty of rich communication and language as the children described what they could see, feel and hear.
The activity also created wonderful opportunities for PSHE, with the children taking turns, cooperating and working as a team to solve problems and explore the ice safely.
Most importantly — we had so much fun!
What a magical and memorable start to our winter learning.
