Our New School Council Has Been Elected!

We are delighted to announce that our School Pupil Council for this year has now been officially elected! Children from Year 1 all the way up to Year 6 took part, making this a truly whole‑school democratic event.

Over the past week, pupils who wished to stand as candidates prepared thoughtful speeches and presented them to their year groups. They spoke confidently about the changes they would like to make, the ideas they could bring, and how they would represent their classmates. It was wonderful to see how much time, care and ambition the children put into their speeches.

Their peers demonstrated our Torch Values brilliantly by listening respectfully, valuing each other’s opinions, and showing support for every candidate. Although we would have loved to choose everyone, the children understood that each pupil had one vote — just like in real elections — and they were encouraged to choose the person they felt would represent them best.

To make the experience meaningful, we used voting slips and ballot boxes and talked about British Values and the democratic process in our country, including how MPs and officials are elected. The children showed great maturity in discussing fairness, representation, and making informed choices.

After counting the votes, the candidates with the most support were elected as this year’s School Council representatives. We are incredibly proud of every child who took part — whether they stood as a candidate or participated by voting. You all helped make this a fantastic learning experience.

Congratulations to our newly elected councillors! We are excited to see the positive ideas, changes, and leadership you will bring to our school this year.
