Autumn Update 2011
Our year got off to an exciting start when all the children in Y3/4 got to spend the afternoon at Holly Grove Roman Baths. The children, dressed in their togas, exercised in the gymnasium; spent a session in the caldarium (steam room); plunged their feet into the icy cold water of the frigidarium and finally sampled grapes, olives and pitta bread in the relaxing room. The children had 'MAXIMUS' fun!
We have also had a return visit from Professor McGinty, the Time Travelling Detective. The children thoroughly enjoyed learning more facts about life in Britain during the Roman times. Some of the girls and boys were dressed up as rich Roman citizens and they all helped the Professor solve the mystery of what 'DCCLXXIX' means!
Our next event is a day with Timezone in Celtic Britain before the unwelcome Romans invade our tribeland.
