Year Two Autumn 2009
In year 2 since September we have been studying 'Food' as a topic. We have made our bread in the shape of "hedgehogs"!
The children have experienced different kinds of food – Indian, oriental, polish, Italian and even old English 'gruel!' The staff wrote their own Harvest assembly – fantastic songs, drama, raps, and improvisation – where we sold over 150 cookies to raise money for the children's choice of charity – Oxfam.
We have studied instructions creating bread hedgehogs and biscuits, poetry, narrative stories and reports in literacy, through topic. We have made our own market stalls and vehicles in DT incorporating ICT and wood working tools, studied form in Art using photography.
For homework the children have also tried something new this year – reading journals – which are very successful.
We have had a parents induction night; which had great attendance.
