Autumn Term 2nd Half
Welcome back. I hope that you have had an enjoyable and relaxing half term with your children. We are looking forward to another successful half term.
Our topic this half term is Locational Geography. The children will become familiar with the terms latitude, longitude and time zones. They will use maps to focus on Europe, North and South America and Asia. Each class will do an in depth study on one country. Our class will be taking a closer look at India. At the end of the half term each class will share their knowledge and learning with the other two classes in the year group.
This is going to be an exciting term for the children. We begin the term with our Egyptian topic and have already learnt all about mummification. To understand this process we did some role play and mummified one of our class members!! We are looking forward to a visit from our mad Proffeseur Mr McGinty who will educate the children in a fun, amusing and unique way.
The children have a coloured spelling folder with their spelling book inside. The colour of the folder matches their spelling group. They will be tested on a Wednesday and new spellings will also be given out the same day. The spelling list will be stuck in the front of their spelling books and their actual test will be written in the back. This way you will be able to see how well they have done each week.
Our P.E days are Wednesdays and Thursdays. The children need to have both indoor and outdoor kit which should include a pair of trainers. P.E kit doesn't get particularly dirty so there is no need for the children to take their kit home every week.
