Summer Term 2018

Welcome back! I hope that you have had a lovely Easter break and a well deserved rest, and are now ready to learn new things.

This term we will be learning all about the Vikings in History, and we will be comparing Britain with Scandinavia in Geography.

Our themes in English are Myths and Legends and we have linked our text to our History topic. The children will be reading and writing about 'The saga of Eric the Viking' by Terry Jones. In view of this, if you could direct your children to read different myths and legends over the next few weeks, this will hopefully inspire them to write some imaginative stories in school.

In Science we will be learning all about forces and magnets and we look forward to doing lots of practical work and interesting investigations.

Please see the full topic web which shows topics / themes  for all other areas of the curriculum and check the website for any further updates.

Homework -- The children appeared to really enjoy their new approach to homework choosing from the homework menu linked to their current topic. A new homework menu will be sent out with the children during the first week back at school and a copy will also be available on the web site.

Spellings-- Will continue on a weekly basis. Test and new spellings each Tuesday ( unless there are any unforeseen circumstances.) The Summer Term spelling lists for this half term are attached at the top of this page. The spelling list with the heading  week 1 will be given to the children on the 17th April.

Our class dojo messaging service has proved to be very useful, so please continue to use this if needed.

Spring term 2018

Happy New Year! Welcome back Year 3/4.  I hope you have had a lovely Christmas and have returned well rested and eager to learn lots of new things this term.

In Science we will be finishing off our work on Plants and then we will be studying Animals and their habitats. We have organised a trip to Chester Zoo . Further details can be found on the 3/4 web page.

In our topic lessons we will be comparing the USA and Britain and investigating the extreme weather found in the United States.

Our English text for this half term is The Wizard of Oz by L. Frank Baum and we will be reading and studying this text in order to develop our reading and writing skills.

Welcome back. I hope you have all had a lovely break over the Summer holidays.

We are very excited about the forthcoming year in 3/4 and are looking forward to a very positive and exciting time learning new things. Our topic this term is based on Invaders and Settlers. We will be learning all about the people who have invaded and settled in Britain from the Stoneage through to the Celts and Romans. We will be having a visit from the brilliant Professor McCinty and also Timezone , who will bring our topic to life.

You will be able to find Year group and class information here on the website, but please feel free to contact me should you have any specific queries or work.
